The Process

My design inspiration for the Primary Bedroom suite and terrace is inspired by decades spent traveling to coastal destinations – from Malibu to the French Riviera. Whether abroad or here at home, I wanted to capture the casual elegance of summer living; to create a space where my clients might lounge while dreaming up their next adventure.

We achieved this by selecting the finest in furnishings, textiles, wallcoverings and lighting. The custom art created by European and American artists adds to the drama. The eye is immediately drawn to the whimsical textile wallcovering “Wonderwoods” from ARTE’s “Decors & Panoramiques“ collection, which creates an unexpected color story in a space that has an otherwise neutral color palette. The bed, dressed in Luxurious Frette linens with pillows in Holly Hunt and Donghia fabrics, invites relaxation. Carpeting from Country Carpet adds the perfect touch of comfort and texture. Romantic details add a hint of European elegance, as do the draperies in an ombre linen by Holly Hunt. The clean lines of the custom headboard, and “his and hers” closets designed with the team at California Closets, offer beautiful functionality. Some of my favorite details are the sculptural chandelier created for us by Shakuff and the inviting boucle swivel chairs and ottomans from Eicholtz, all adding to the international flavor of the room.

Beyond the Interiors

A vast adjacent terrace offers a seamless extension of the Primary Suite. This alfresco retreat boasts a panoramic view where the lines between interior and exterior blur, providing an open-air space for lounging. Lloyd Flanders outdoor furniture is styled with chic yet durable indoor/outdoor fabrics from Kravet and Donghia in hues echoing the color story of the bedroom.
